How to merge several PDF files into one and choose the page order
Combining PDFs is one of the most common tasks at work and at school: an application form, a copy of your ID and a certificate in a single file; thesis chapters that each team member exported separately; or a month's invoices that have to be sent together. With OrdenaPDF you can do it and also decide the exact order of every page.
Step by step
- Open Reorder PDF and drag the first file onto the box, or click to choose it.
- Click "Add file" to add the other PDFs. You can combine up to 20 files, with no page limit.
- You'll see every page as a thumbnail. With several files, the name of the source file appears under each thumbnail.
- Drag the pages into the order you need. You can interleave pages from different files.
- Delete pages you don't want with the trash icon (for example blank pages or duplicate covers).
- Click "Download PDF" to get a single combined document.
Does merging PDFs reduce quality?
No. The pages are copied into the new file as they are: text stays selectable, images keep their resolution and fonts are preserved. It isn't a "photo" of the document but the very same pages, rearranged.
Tips for long documents
- If you'll do a lot of rearranging, delete unnecessary pages first: fewer thumbnails to move.
- Add the files in roughly the final order; then you'll only need small adjustments.
- On a phone with little memory, PDFs with hundreds of pages take a bit longer to show thumbnails. Be patient or use a computer.
- Always keep a copy of the original files until you've checked the result.
Is one of your documents a photo rather than a PDF? Convert it first with the Image to PDF tool and then merge it with the others.
Password-protected PDFs
If a PDF asks for a password to open, the browser can't read its pages and the tool will show a warning. Open it with its password in your PDF reader, save or print it as an unprotected PDF (if you're allowed to) and try again. PDFs that only have editing restrictions but open without a password usually work fine.
